ANAHATA: HEART CHAKRA

The location of our unconditional love, the music & rhythm of our life -

we are built to love.

It is officially WEEK FOUR of My Soul Summer which means we have reached our middle chakra. . .

The Heart Chakra, Anahata.

Whilst all of our chakras are equally important as each other, the heart chakra has an influence over the other chakras in a unique way. It has a symbolism of unconditional love, open-heartedness (quite literally!) & is central to our rhythm of life. It is our heart which guides us down our paths, this journey called life, it is the physical linked to the spiritual knowing what is best for us. & it is there in every moment, with every beat, to give us a helping hand & be all that we need in this world.

I am sure you can probably guess where this one is located but here is your weekly visualisation anyway - our Anahata chakra is the green light right in the centre as you can see below. . .

The direct translation of the Sanskrit term Anahata Chakra is 'un-struck' as our heart needs nothing outside of us to play it's own music, it is not effected by external matters, only what we hold, control & choose to bring within. It is there the moment we come into this life, right until the day we leave it, no matter how much hurt we may suffer or pain we may feel, the music is always there.

In fact going through terrible heartbreak teaches us so much, how we can genuinely feel our emotions in our physical body, as well as teaching us how we, as humans, truly are built to love unconditionally. No matter how much we vouch that we will never fall in love again, that we will never feel the same amidst our pain, it almost always happens again. Because it is what we are put on this earth to do. To love. & going through this suffering only allows our hearts to grow with compassion so that we can then love others in even greater capacity as we can relate & understand their suffering.

'The measure of our ability to love is only as great as our ability to completely feel pain. To numb one is to numb the other.'

It is both love & pain that make our life what it is. That fill it to the brim with excitement & emotion. For what is a life without love? Despite the piercing pain we can experience in this lifetime, is it not worth it for all consuming never ending joy that love brings?

The extension of the heart chakra in our bodies is our shoulders & arms, which tend to hold a lot of weight, especially in the shoulder region where there are so many of us that curl up our upper body & weigh ourselves down with physical & emotional tension. When we attempt to avoid pain, the heart can speak up in these physical forms or even in our inability to forgive. If nothing else, then take away this, it is the destiny of the heart chakra for us to push nothing away, to celebrate all of the human experience with open arms & an open heart.

Learn to love & be loved & you will experience the fullest life there is with balance & healing.

Here are a few foods that can help to clear, unblock & brighten the Anahata chakra:

  • Green, green, green Veg: Kale, Broccoli, Spinach, Runner beans, Pak Choi, Cabbage, Lettuce.

AVOCADO WITH A TWIST:

  • 1/2 Avocado

  • Lemon Juice

  • Rock Salt

  • Chilli Flakes

  • 2 Slices of Sourdough Bread

  1. Toast the Sourdough bread.

  2. Put the avocado in a bowl & mash with a fork slightly adding in a generous splash of lemon juice & a sprinkling of rock salt so that it is still chunky.

  3. Once the bread is toasted, spread over your avocado mix. Splash over more lemon juice & sprinkle your Chilli Flakes (as many as you desire!) with extra salt.

A delicious simple Sunday morning breakfast or lunch, or snack or. . .anytime really!
